2006 APEC-TIC Workshop Project Design:

‧Project Mission:

To gives APEC member economies the opportunity to exchange ideas and to further develop alliances with other organizations. Through this conference, all participants of APEC member economies share case studies in IT technology, biotechnology and humanity and gain mulit-lateral collaborative experience; in addition, to encourage the youth entrepreneurship and innovation among APEC region. 

Further, to create an online platform embracing case studies, mentoring and campaign, alliances, APEC exchange internship program, entrepreneurship training and certificated courses.

‧Project Objective:

I. To offer a great opportunity for APEC member economies to experience the achievements of entrepreneurship and innovation in IT technology, biotechnology and humanity in Chinese Taipei, for further policy establishment.

II. To offer an opportunity for all participants from Industrial & academic alliance, emerging SMEs industry, and young talents’ start-up companies in APEC region to share cases and experiences. To connect researchers from governments and private sectors, entrepreneurs and investors from local and international enterprises, providing each member economy to gain the maximum benefit from experts in the areas of IT technology, biotechnology and humanity.

III. To promote entrepreneurial spirit and aggregate the benefits of innovation, to serve as a window to new markets and technology opportunities. To start establishing a platform on cross-regional innovation collaboration in technology, humanity and biotechnology industry, investment, technology, and campaign.

‧Project Vision:

To promote experience exchange and resources integration within APEC member economies. To establish a platform of academic researches and entrepreneurial business to prosper economy in APEC region.

‧Delegates Eligibility:

     Chinese Taipei will invite all APEC member economies to attend APEC-TIC Workshop. Each member economy designate delegates from Industrial & academic alliance, emerging SMEs industry, and young talents’ start-up companies. Chinese Taipei will offer full economy roundtrip airfare to the Conference and lodging and meals expenses for 18 delegates in APEC region, who take the role of chair in sub-group discussion or keynote speaker. Besides, Chinese Taipei will subsidize lodging and meals for two delegates from each member economy (total 42 delegates), including one expert, who has comprehensive experience related to industry, investment, technology, exhibition and education from the member economy, and one young student leader, who had participated young scientific and technology innovation or entrepreneurial activities.

The Conference will hold in English, and every delegate of each member economies should possess English ability.

At the present, APEC is formed by 21 member economies, including Australia; Brunei Darussalam; Canada; Chile; People's Republic of China; Hong Kong, China; Indonesia; Japan; Republic of Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; New Zealand; Papua New Guinea; Peru; The Republic of the Philippines; The Russian Federation; Singapore; Chinese Taipei; Thailand; United States of America; Viet Nam.

‧Features of 2006 APEC-TIC Workshop:

I.  The project follows the results of the 2005 APEC-TIC100 Conference conclusions, which put education development the top priority. In year 2006, Chinese Taipei will hold APEC-TIC Workshop with this mission. Chinese Taipei will invite all APEC member economies to designate delegates from Industrial & academic alliance, emerging SMEs industry, and young talents’ start-up companies to attend this conference.

II. One day before APEC-TIC Workshop, there will be “2006 Taipei Int’l Invention Show & Technomart” held by Industrial Technology Research Institute. Those member economies that arrive early are mostly welcome to join the international campaign in Chinese Taipei.

III. The third day of conference will arrange all member economies to visit prestigious enterprises from technology, humanity and biotechnology in Chinese Taipei.

IV. 2006 APEC-TIC Workshop’s theme focuses on “Love of aborigines in Chinese Taipei.” All arrangement will harmonize with it to offer all delegates to experience the culture in Chinese Taipei.

V. For each field of discussion topics (IT technology, humanity and biotechnology), there will be 4 staffs, who formed by APEC youth talents and possess excellent English ability, serving every member economies as conference supporting role.

VI. Facilitators and staffs will wear conference T-shirt during the whole conference. This T-shirt will be given to all delegates of APEC-TIC Workshop.

VII. Before conference, Chinese Taipei will record a video about “Entrepreneurship & Innovation in Chinese Taipei” and release at APEC-TIC Workshop.
