Caracas Metro Line 5 is one of the newly planned Metro Line that will integrate with the existing Metro Line 1 to 4 in Caracas, Venezuela. Line 5 has a total length of 12.5 km with 10 underground stations. It will connect the Eastern part of the city with the city center.
The metro tunnels are designed as shield tunnel using Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) excavation method. On the other hand, the underground stations are excavated using New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM). T.Y.Lin Taiwan works on the detail design of 3 stations (Montecristo, Boleita, and EL Marques). 3D BIM is used in Line 5 design to produce design drawings.
