这是拉封丹(Jean de La Fontaine)的寓言，原文叫The Weasel in the Granary。它讲一只进大病初愈的黄鼠狼，牠身体虚弱，很小的洞钻进仓库里。尽情大吃大喝可口美食，没有多久，她就吃得脑满场肥，全身变得圆滚滚、胖嘟嘟的。几天后，她忽然听到声响。黄鼠狼急忙想从洞里钻进去。但是不知道为什么，竟然钻不出去。黄鼠狼姑娘以为自己把洞给弄错了，来回绕了两、三圈。
「确实是这个洞没错，」黄鼠狼姑娘说，「不过真是太奇怪了，明明五、六天前，我才从这里钻进来的嘛!」一只老鼠对不知所措的黄鼠狼姑娘说：「那时候妳的身体更瘦些，瘦着进来的人非瘦着出去不可。」
老鼠说完，便钻进鼠洞，躲去了，留下黄鼠狼姑娘，慌张不知所措，结果人来了，黄鼠狼姑娘无洞可钻，给人抓走了。
这个寓言是告诉我们人无远虑，必有近忧，情况随时在变，当初的状况随时间一直在变，不可以为好运一直跟随着，所谓塞翁失马失马，焉知非福，要随时小心谨慎。
奉劝人要懂得居安思危，否则会像故事中「仓库里的黄鼠狼」吃得肚皮圆溜溜，结果钻出洞，却钻不回去。

A weasel through a hole contrived to squeeze,

Which led her to a farmer's hoard.
在这房间，她钟爱一切的食物，大吃大喝，不顾身体是否变型，
There lodged, her wasted form she cherish'd;
只天知道的猪油和美食的储存地方。
都被她啃得一干二净！
Heaven knows the lard and victuals stored
That by her gnawing perish'd!
其中的后果
是突然肥胖。
Of which the consequence
Was sudden corpulence.
过了一个星期左右了，
当身体迅速变型时，
她听到一个噪音，
急忙找到，她钻出的洞口，
但发现它似乎与原先的洞不一样;
A week or so was past,
When having fully broken fast,
A noise she heard,
and hurried
To find the hole by which she came,
And seem'd to find it not the same;
她如此来回跑，慌慌张张，感到非常悲伤;
而且，一再回来，将她的头推进，
So round she ran, most sadly flurried;
And, coming back, thrust out her head,

一只老鼠看见她的麻烦，

“因为，妳空着肚子钻出;妳瘦的进来，非瘦的出去不可”。
A rat her trouble sees,

You enter'd lean, and lean must sally."
