6. middle- of -the- road (中立派、走中間路線)
英文意思：neutral，not extreme (中性、不偏激)
站在路中間而不特別靠右邊或左邊，也就是比喻採取既不偏左派，也不偏右派的中立態度。
中間道路是溫和的路線，中間立場的：在兩個極端之間採取中間路線的，特別是在政治上既不主張自由，又不保守的。
例如：
What’s his slant on this issue?
(他對這件事的立場是什麼？)
He’s always middle- of -the- road when it comes to politics.
(談到政治，他一向都是中立派。)
The centre is the name for moderate, middle-of-the-road parties and politics, scorned by the doctrinaire and idealist.
(中間派是用於指溫和的，走中間道路的黨派和政治，他們受到教條主義者和唯心主義者的藐視。)
7. pigeonhole(貼標籤)
英文意思：to put a label on someone or something(將標籤貼在某人或某物身上)
Pigeon是鴿子hole是洞，鴿子的洞是鴿巢，也就是鴿籠式分類架，延伸為信件架，文件格，或用來放檔案的格架。
更進一步引申用來將某人貼上標籤，而這個標籤多半是沒有經過詳細考量或只粗糙想當然兒就貼上。
例如：
Rebecca is a pigeon with no pigeonhole
(麗蓓嘉是一位難以形容的漂亮姑娘。)
It's the sort of job you can't pigeonhole,he seems to do different things every week
(這是一種你無法分門別類的工作他似乎每星期都在做不同的事。)
A: He’s just another yes man in the management department.
A:他只是管理部門的另一個應聲蟲罷了。
B: Well , you shouldn’t pigeonhole people like that.
B:你不該那樣把人貼上標籤。
8. a knockout (大美人)
圖：我是大美人嗎？
英文意思：a very beautiful person or thing (非常美麗的人或事物)
在拳擊比賽將對方擊倒叫knockout，讓人驚奇。引申讓人眼睛一亮，驚為天人的大美人，或美好的物品。
例如：
He has won most of his fights by knockouts.
他在拳賽中多以擊倒對方獲勝。
I know she's a knockout and he's nuts about her.
我知道她是一個美人，他迷戀著她。
Look , isn ' t she beautiful ? she ' s a real knockout.
看，她是不是很美？她真迷人。
You should see my wife in a bikini . she ' s a knockout.
你應該看看我太太穿比基尼的樣子，她是大美人。
9. to go through hell(惡夢一場)
英文意思：to have a very difficult or unpleasant.(非常`艱困或不愉快的時候。)
Hell 是地獄，到地獄走一圈的經驗一定不好受，很不愉快的。
例如：
We went through hell while working on this project.（做這個項目的過程中經歷了煉獄般的考驗）
I love my friend John like a brother . I know he'd go through hell or high water for me.
(我對約翰就像對待自己的兄弟一樣,我知道他會為我赴湯滔火的。)
A: I heard there was a very bad accident on the highway.
(聽說高速公路發生嚴重的意外事故。)
B: Yes, we went through hell trying to get party on time .
(是啊，我們為了要準時趕到宴會，受盡了折磨。)
10. 三歲小孩(born yesterday)
英文意思：(naïve or stupid) 天真的、愚笨的
「那還用你說，我又不是三歲小孩」，是中文裡經常聽到的台詞，而在英文裡用born yesterday，來形容無知的小孩子，也是類似說法。
例如：
Mind you I was not born yesterday.
(提醒你，我並非是個乳臭未乾的孩子。)
You can't fool me , I wasn't born yesterday.
(你騙不了我，我又不是三歲小孩。)
I was not born yesterday.
(我不是三歲兩歲的小孩子。)
I know it well,I am not born yesterday.
(我很瞭解情況，我可不是剛出世的娃娃。)
I know what' s going on .I wasn't born yesterday.
(我很瞭解將如何做，我可不是剛出世的娃娃。)
