1. to hit it off (一拍即合、很投缘)
英文意思：to become friendly with someone (与某人成为好朋友)
这句话是指二人一见如故，彼此非常投缘，马上变成好朋友。
例如：
My brother and my boyfriend hit it off right from the start.
我哥哥和我的男友两人一见如故。
Judy and her younger sister have never hit it off.
茱蒂和她的妹妹一向就合不来
William met Judy at a party. They hit it off.
威廉和朱蒂在一聚会中相识，两人很投缘。
2. when pig fly (门都没有、不可能发生)
英文意思：it will never happen (这是不可能发生的是)
图：当猪飞起来时
当猪飞起来时，听起来就是不对劲，什么时候猪也长上了翅膀了呢？但是，对于说英语，这句话没有任何问题。猪可不能飞起来！这是不可能的事，而这正是这个成语的意思。
例如，
"Do you think Mary will quit her job now that she's pregnant？
"玛莉现在怀孕了将辞职”
"Yeah, when pigs fly！There is no way she is giving up her career！
“玛莉绝对不可能辞职，她绝不可能放弃工作。”
“Would you go on a date with me ?
妳愿意跟我约会吗？
“ Sure, I’ll go out with you when pigs fly.
你啊，门都没有。
3. deadwood(米虫、朽木、没用的东西，没用的人)
英文意思：people or thing that are useless or no longer needed.(人或物，已经没有用了，或不再需要。)
我们常以朽木来形容不知悔改或无药可救之人，英文用deadwood，来指那些不事生产，好吃懒做的米虫。
例如：
“Did you hear about the company’s new personnel policy? They’re firing a lot of people.”
“你听说公司新的人事政策吗？他们要裁员很多人”。
“Yes, the boss wants to get rid of the deadwood.”
“对啊，老板想要把那些米虫，淘汰掉。
4. Indian summer(秋老虎)
英文意思：hot weather in autumn(秋天的热天气)
Indian summer是指"秋老虎"、"小阳春"，在"深秋季节的一段暖和天气"，英文叫"India Summer"。"Indian Summer"指秋天的一段暖和、干燥的天气，往往出现在9月下旬、10月和11月，有时候也会出现在8月或12月，爱伦-坡曾把它称作 "strange interregnum occurring in autumn"(奇怪的中断季节) 。
传说印地安人，经常会答应你作某事情，又突然收回去，让人不知所措，有被耍的感觉，就好像凉爽的秋天突然来了大阳光，像夏天一样的天气，让人不知所措。
例如：
Why is it so hot in mid-October?
(为什么十月中，天气还这么热？)
I guess it’s just an India Summer.
(我想应该正是秋老虎发威吧！)
5. a know-it -all(自以为博学多闻的人)
英文意思：a person who acts as though he/she knows everthing.(一个人他假装什么都懂。)
例如：
"I see what you mean" said the class know-it-all. "But how can you tell that it's not robert browning?"
“我明白你的意思，”班上的万事通说。“但是你怎么说那就不是罗伯特•布朗宁呢？”
You sound like mr know-it-all.
你好象万事通似的。
My brother-in-law is an obnoxious know-it-all.
我的姐夫是个讨人厌的自以为是万事通的家伙。
