一隻非常饑餓的狐狸看見一串串熟得發黑的葡萄掛在葡萄架上。牠貧嘗試所有方法和力氣，想要把蔔萄摘下來。但在用盡力氣，精疲力竭下，仍無法吃到蔔萄。
最後，牠掉頭離開，為了掩飾牠的無奈，牠說：「我認為這些葡萄是酸的，尚未成熟。」
 

The Fox and the Grapes     by Assop
A famished Fox saw some clusters of ripe black grapes hanging from a trellised vine. She resorted to all her tricks to get at them, but wearied herself in vain, for she could not reach them.
At last she turned away, beguiling herself of her disappointment and saying:"The Grapes are sour and not ripe as I thought."
